Lithuanian born, shoe designer Victoria Andrejeva is fully involved with the processes and production of her ‘Cherevichkiotvichki’ collections. Andrejeva spends a lot of her time working alongside the shoemakers in the Italian factories, whilst also handling all other aspects on design in her London-based studios. The AW13 collection takes inspiration from her Soviet upbringing and childhood memories, which draws on the abandonment of time. “All my shoes are about my childhood: lonely, happy, preserved.” The pieces this season favour a minimal, functional approach that is characterised by the rise and domination of the USSR and aspects of socialist realism. Her pieces are comfortable with a clean-cut, contemporary aesthetic and have been designed to last the tests of time.
